Some children do not want to draw and hold pencils due to fine motor skill limitations. These clients may be encouraged by the creativity of Art Therapy.

At PEDAL have an Occupational Therapist who specializes in Art Therapy. Megan, our OT, favours three children per class and finds small groups sharing the social experience stimulates the wish to try harder. Art Therapy includes:

  • Optimizing muscle control by strengthening with Art Therapy
  • Increasing hand–eye co-ordination
  • Increasing willingness to try to use pencils/paintbrush
  • Increasing possible literacy skills for future education

The aim of art is not to represent the outward appearance of things but their inward significance.
